ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPH:

“My picture is a wedding photo of my firstborn, the one that made me a mommy. It's her wedding photo, and we were all together at her wedding. And this was just family. To me, family is everything. My family brings me light. I have six children; my mom is still living. I didn't want to be a statistic of being a single mom with a bunch of kids on assistance. So I worked two jobs, went to school full-time, paying market rent to make sure that my babies didn’t have to grow up and struggle. So I obtained my master's degree in order to show my babies that they can achieve anything being a single mom, so that was awesome.”
